Today is day 6 that I've been on the trail. So many things have happened. And my life has already changed!
My mother and sister drove me up to Amicalola so that we could register and grab some snickers! Then we drove to springer and started from there! The first day was a lot of fun! Met a few awesome characters that keep popping up!
This is Scout he is an awesome character, if anyone is reading this and is on the trail if you see him definitely say hello!
The first two days were amazing weather, chilly, but sunny and beautiful. We ran into some trail magic at Cooper gap & again at Tenatee gap! (Thank you trail angels <3 )
On day three taylor decided that hiking the appalachian trail wasn't for him and went back home. I stayed the night at the walasiyi hostel and met some awesome hiker trash that I've been with since!
Day four and five have been on & off showers. Parts of the mountain are literly a slip in slide, really slow terrain and any more rain and it would've turned into a river. I really don't mind the rain though, it's been getting hotter in temp and the rain is a nice cool down. Plus all of the moss seems to literly glow with the rain. It's the most beautiful thing to look up from the mud trail and see patches of chartrous popping everywhere!! It's stunning!!
I officially got my trail name & couldn't be more happy with it!!
I also got to meet the wonderful ms.janet aka the hiker mom :)) she dropped a few of us in helen for a cold brew and some pizza! (Pizza & pints in Helen GA is extremely hiker friendly fyi). During our helen adventure I met Sherpa. Sherpa is a Vietnam vet that is carrying a 75IB pack. He is hilarous but doesn't seem to know it & definitely not someone I'd want to get in a tumble with. He gifted me a stone pendent from Budapest that i'll be wearing on the rest of my crazy journey through the Appalachian mountains.
Oh saturday is suppose to be in the 70s, WOOT WOOT!!
I'll post another update in a few days (hopefully I'll be in NC by then!)
Ciao!
